Noemí Avram, AIA

Noemí Avram received an Architectural Degree from the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina and a Master of Architecture from the University of Toronto, Canada. She has been a licensed architect since 1994.

Ms. Avram is a long-standing member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and served as President of the San Mateo County Chapter in 2005. She has been a Planning Commissioner for the City of Foster City since 2002, and is an active member of the Rotary Club of Foster City. She also serves on the Downtown San Mateo Association as a Board Member, and a Beautification and Enhancement Committee Member. Ms. Avram graduated from the San Mateo Area Leadership Class in 2004, a Leadership Program serving the cities of San Mateo, Foster City, Burlingame and Hillsborough and serves on the Leadership Advisory Board.

Prior to joining Gumbinger Associates in 1989, Ms. Avram was employed by several architectural firms on the San Francisco peninsula and prior to that at firms in Toronto, Canada. She became an Associate at Gumbinger Associates in 1994. In 2001, Ms. Avram became the owner and principal of the firm and officially changed the name to Gumbinger Avram Architects (GAA), Inc.

Ms. Avram has experience working on a large variety of project types, and has managed some of the firm’s largest and most complex projects. These projects have included mixed-use and multi-unit residential projects, hotels and storage buildings, as well as smaller commercial and residential buildings where scale is particularly important. Her responsibilities include the coordination of schematic design, design development, the production of construction documents and construction administration duties.

As principal of GAA, Ms. Avram personally oversees all projects from inception to completion, providing input and critique throughout the entire project. With her 20 years of hands-on experience and knowledge of changing local city government processes and policies, local jurisdiction zoning and building codes, Ms. Avram is able to rapidly move plans needing government review and approval through the necessary phases of the process. Many a client has come back to Ms. Avram and GAA because of her unique combination of skilled architectural design expertise and deep understanding of local government requirements.
